I don't normally write testimonials, but I must write this one. I dropped my portable Hitachi TravelStar on the floor two months ago, and afterwards was unable to access it. it was making a loud scratching noise. I called some repair shops around town, but none of them were able to deal my problem, as I was told repeatedly that it would require a clean room and a couple of thousand dollars. Well, I went online and contacted a half-dozen data recovery companies, and sure enough, the lease expensive was $1,700.00. Then I ran across Crucial Data Recovery. Well, when I saw the price (which the majority of the other companies won't even list), my first thought was this must be a ripoff (sorry, Alex!). I did some research on the company, checked it through the BBB, local chamber of commerce, and the Ohio Attorney General's office, and found nothing negative whatsoever. I contacted CDR, and received a prompt response from Alex. He told me that, based on my description, it was probably physical damage and would require the clean room process. The good thing, however, was that it was going to cost me $759.00. I decided to send my drive in, and received a prompt assessment confirming the physical damage and cost. I gave approval to repair it, and a couple of weeks later, I have 90% of my data (including all of my 8-year old daughters pictures) back in my possession. The only additional cost was $75.00, which covered the cost of a replacement drive (which was larger and less expensive than the one I sent in). Alex and the gang at CDR are great, and I would highly recommend them if you ever find yourself in need of data recovery
